CAP YEI-GIZ Lamu training center is a replication vocational training centre located in Lamu Island in Lamu west sub-county, Lamu County. Lamu County has two sub counties Lamu west and Lamu East. Lamu County is rich in history and culture and blessed with long white sandy beaches, and as a result, so many tourists are attracted by these magical features. In addition, Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia-Transport (LAPSET) project is a great opportunity to create jobs to the youth in Lamu and along the transport corridor. This project involves a lot of construction works which subsequently calls for hotel as well as accommodation services. It’s evident that most of the young people in Lamu are school dropouts or never got access to learning at all. Most of them involve themselves in fishing and boat riding among other activities which have a lot of competition. Because of the poor education attainment, many youth are rendered jobless and idle thus contributing to drug abuse.
