I started my primary education at Kairuri primary school and later joined Gatunduri secondary school where I sat for my KCSE exams and completed in the year 2014.
After my form four I looked for various casual jobs to earn a living. I have a passion for hospitality and I was lucky to get an outside catering job at Sasha caterers. At Sasha caterers I heard about CAP –YEI from an alumni batch 1 who gave me information about CAPYEI program and how it benefits youths by offering basic employability skills .I got interested and I came to inquire further about the program from the Cap-YEI staff. I was called and did an interview and I was excited when I was told that, I was qualified to join the program.
After I did a test I started my hospitality course. Life skills class was educative I learnt how to make decision, manage time, improve my self-esteem and self-confidence. In my hospitality class I learnt food production, service, front office and housekeeping I thank MasterCard Foundation for giving the youth this wonderful chance to acquire skills to use in the marketplace.
After CAP I went to Nice city for my internship and later was employed as a chef earning Khs.13,000. After 6 months I later got a better opportunity at Lowlands spa at Chuka where I am currently working earning Kshs 25,000. I am saving my income so that, I can start my own small business-cafeteria as I support my siblings back home.
