Skills Development

CAP YEI was established in Kenya in 2011 to implement a training model that would equip the youth with entry-level skills needed to seize employment and self-employment opportunities. Skills development is one of the core processes embraced by CAP YEI in its training modules. It is the method of acquiring productive capabilities through learning, training, and exposure. Skills development among the youth reduces unemployment, increases labor productivity, and improves the standards of living in society.

Green Economy

CAP YEI is keen to uphold the Triple Bottom Line approach to sustainability: people, planet, and prosperity. The aim is to have a green economy that is conscious of ecological scarcities and the need to reduce environmental risks. Thus, CAP YEI believes that growth in employment and income ought to be driven by investing in economic activities, infrastructure, and assets that allow reduced carbon footprint, enhanced energy and resource efficiency, and prevention of biodiversity and ecosystem degradation.

MSME Development

CAP YEI implements customized entrepreneurship training in all course curricula to create pathways to transition into employment, self-employment, or both. This approach was derived from research on the competitive employment opportunities in the labor markets of countries such as Kenya. Self- employment through the establishment of entrepreneurial ventures is an effective way to empower an economy and complement formal/corporate employment.

Blue Economy

CAP YEI supports livelihood opportunities in the blue economy sector by offering skills development in areas such as ecotourism, vessel repair, maritime security, and maritime transport and logistic. As captured in Kenya’s Vision 2030, the blue economy has the potential of projecting Kenya into a regional economic powerhouse, as such CAP YEI supports initiatives and programs such as the European Union’s Go Blue to unlock the potential of sea-land opportunities in coastal urban centers for sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Technology and Innovation

CAP YEI recognizes the importance of technology and innovation in the world today and endeavors to equip learners with a wide range of software, and technological ICT skills programs. The modern world frontiers technologies in bridging the widening economic and social inequalities. It is imperative to recognize new technological possibilities in various aspects of our training initiatives.
