Patrick Kiogora
Am Patrick Kiogora from Meru County, I’m aged 23 years old and the last born in a family of 2. I come from a very humble family of a single parent where my mother relies on small food crop farming for our living. I schooled at Murinya Day School where I completed my form four in 2013 with a grade of D plain. Since there were no finances for further my studies, I had to join the hustle world with casual jobs of Boda boda riding earning at most KS 200 per day.
One Sunday during the normal service session, I had an advert about CAPYEI registration at Githongo. I gained interest to join the program and made a step further to visit the center for further inquiries. With enough knowledge after the visit, I convinced my mother to pay the registration fee which she never resisted. Upon joining in April 2015, an IIT was conducted and the results indicated I should join the automobile class. After completing the training in August, I joined Mt. Kenya Milk Company for 4 months industrial internship in automotive repair.
Upon completion of my internship, I secured my first job as a Service bay and pump attendant at Neo Energy in Chogoria with a monthly salary 0f Ksh 10000. Later after a continuous work for one year, I was promoted to the service bay supervisor in the same company in 2017 with a gross salary of Ks 15000. I served in the same position for 6 months before joining Meru technical for my diploma course in automotive engineering. In February 2019, in my 2nd final year of study, I secured a job opportunity with Tel Aviv Driving School in Maua as an instructor earning Ks 20,000 where I am working up to now as the head of Service Department.
I’m very grateful to the CAPYEI- foundation for offering me this noble opportunity that came to change my life. Through my job income earnings, I have managed to buy a motorbike, furthered my studies, and helped my parents and currently constructing my house. In addition to my boda boda business, very soon my plans are to start my own Driving School. CAPYEI mmbarikiwe Sana.
