ZAITUNI MNYAZI TSUMA

My name is Zaituni Mnyazi Tsuma. I am 21 years old from Mariakani. I am the 2nd born in a family of 6. My father is the bread winner while my mother keeps herself busy with small businesses. I went to Kafuduni Primary school and managed to complete my primary school education. I was unable to join Secondary school due to lack of School fees. So, I started helping my mother with her business. I came to know about EU-GIZ “Youth Empowerment and Employment Project in Kenya” through my aunt.So I took it upon myself to make individual inquiry at the center and get more information.That is when I decided to join

TRAINING EXPERIENCE

I underwent training in Security Guarding and systems as the main course. On top of that I was trained on lifeskills, entrepreneurship skills and basic computer studies.

I viewed security from a very different perspective because I never understood what it was all about. But after joining EU-GIZ “Youth Empowerment and Employment Project in Kenya” it helped me get a clear picture of what security is all about. I developed great interest and ensured that I got the most out of the short time we were there. These included, Patrolling, Searching, Fire fighting, Radio communication, report writing, Crimes and Offenses, Law, parade
and other duties. I never thought that I would get so much knowledge in such a short time, but thanks to my facilitators and EU for their efforts to ensure that we are empowered.

CAREER

At the moment I am working as a security guardette at Mazeras with Cobra earning a salary of Kshs.12000. I am so grateful for this opportunity because it has enabled me to put my knowledge and skills to practice. My experience is growing and I am now able to handle the challenges at my place of work. Life- skills has helped me so far to deal with different personalities at my place of work. Thanks to EU-GIZ “Youth Empowerment and Employment Project in Kenya” for initiating this program to enable the youth access these skills. It is my sincere prayer that this initiative never ends but rather continues for generations to come.
