Equipping Skilled Professionals as 729 KOICA- GIZ Co-Funded Project Trainees Graduate in June, 2023

Our graduations signify more than just the attainment of certificates, they represent the culmination of hard work, dedication, and acquisition of practical skills, which are directly applicable to the job market.

In June 2023, CAP Youth Empowerment Institute celebrated 729 KOICA-GIZ co-funded project beneficiaries who attained certificates in specific courses including Hospitality, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting and Refrigeration & air conditioning, These graduates took their courses from different VTCs within the country in Lamu, Nakuru, Makueni, Laikipia and Murang’a Counties.

Hon. Stephen Munania awarding Kigumo graduates their certificates when he graced the event as chief guest.

As we celebrate and acknowledge the success of our graduates, the impact of the KOICA- GIZ co-funded project on our beneficiaries goes beyond individual success; it extends to communities, and economies by driving growth, reducing unemployment, and fostering inclusivity. We take pride in addressing the skill gap in the market, and challenging societal perceptions. Under this project, we have not only trained but placed 85% of alumni into jobs and facilitated 13% to start their own Micro Businesses. Out of the 85% placed into Jobs, 19% of them have been linked with #GreenJobs while working with stakeholders whose mandate aligns with our objective in the KOICA project to link at least 20% of our beneficiaries to jobs, which contribute to environmentally friendly initiatives that aim to eliminate the negative impact on the environment by saving energy like installing energy-efficient appliances and implementing renewable energy programs, reducing water consumption by installing water-efficient devices and equipment and implementing a linen and towel reuse program and waste management, and reduction by implementing recycling programs and using durable items rather than disposable ones.

The KOICA- GIZ co-funded project is implemented by CAP YEI in Lamu, Nakuru, Laikipia, Murang’a, and Makueni counties to equip the youth with demand-driven skills that can support them to secure livelihood opportunities.
