Hannah Muthoni Case Study

NAME: Hannah Wainaina Muthoni

COURSE: Hospitality

CENTER: Lamu Vocational Training Center

“My name is Hannah Muthoni I’m 27. I was born in Nakuru, Rongai, and later relocated to Mpeketoni, Lamu as a teenager. I am the third in a family of eleven, with a humble background. My parents are farmers who depend on seasonal rains to accomplish their farming goals; it was not easy to raise the eleven of us but they did their best to see us grow almost lacking nothing.

I was lucky to complete my high school education and attained a mean grade of C; unfortunately, I was unable to further my education due to financial constraints even though my ambition was to proceed in my education to the best that I could. All hope was not lost when I was introduced to CAP Youth Empowerment Institute by a niece, and the news was that the course offered by the project were fully sponsored. I joined the institute and finished on 27th September 2022.

I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur from a young age working in a sales and service department at FMCG Company; therefore I took the opportunity to study hospitality which enhanced my skills in services. Currently, I’m self-employed, I have a Cafe where I cook and sell fast-moving food. I am looking forward to expanding my cafe into a big restaurant. I will be much happy to create job opportunities for youth.

CAP Youth Empowerment Institute through their program has given me a lot of purpose. I am forever thankful.”
