Go Blue, Success Stories

Jane Kalume Weru, 24- Maritime Security

Employed by BM Security and stationed at Equity Bank, Malindi branch as a security officer, Jane thanks the Go Blue project for giving her a chance at a better life. Jane is from Malindi, Kilifi County; she learned about Go Blue from a friend who was also a beneficiary of the project. She joined the maritime course at Gede Vocational Training Center, where she successfully completed her six months of training.

Prior to joining the project, Jane was idling at home and was jobless; she faced many life challenges. Jane is appreciative and says that the training was wholesome; the computer skills, entrepreneurship skills, and life skills courses have helped open her perspective in life, and she uses them every now and again. Life skills gave her confidence, her job as a security officer involves speaking with different people and customer service; she is able to engage with confidence and firmly interact with customers at the bank. “I want to thank CAP YEI and the Go Blue project for this transformational journey. I want them to keep doing this for the youth and make their lives better,” Jane remarks.
